Greetings from me, Conrad Uno.

Egg Studios is my personal
studio, boasting the Ultimate in Analog recording.............. 2" 16 track.
Or, we can go "tapeless" and
just cut the tracks to the Digital system.
That's fun too and costs you less.
Or, we can combine, mix, and match analog and digital, as need be.
Egg is a comfy, funky, infamous, garage/basement studio. It's real and it's fast and you can afford it ! I've recorded millions of demos here in my basement and some great albums also. Most bands record fairly "live" basic tracks then overdub as needed.
If you record at Egg, you are usually recording with me. That means I am your
engineer and will help with production when the need arises. This help is
simply a bonus of recording at Egg and is included in the regular rates.
An hour at Egg will cost you $35
(two hour minimum)
Tape Costs are Extra, of course.
You can
keep tape costs to a minimum by renting tape from me for $50 per reel.

Special !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fine Print: the Egg
day is from 10 am to 10 pm. Weekend dates booked at Day Rate only. Tape rental includes archiving tracks
to digital multi-track, stored on DVD. Using other
engineer/producer types is fine but requires special arrangements.

What are folks saying about the egg experience?..... Testimonials
OK, sure, it's true that some great
albums have been recorded here!
But you shouldn't come to Egg just because I did the
first Presidents
album, or because you love the albums by the Young
Fresh Fellows, or the Fastbacks,
or Mudhoney,
or Gas
Huffer, or the Supersuckers,
or the Devil
Dogs, or the Mono
Men, or Snitches
Get Stitches, or the
Posies, or Zeke,
or the Briefs,
or Smoosh,
or Ruby
Dee and the Snakehandlers, etc., etc., that were recorded here.
You should come to Egg because you
want to have a fun, relaxed, high quality, low stress,
productive recording experience that doesn't cost you arms and legs and a years
worth of whiskey.
I have decent gear, shit
loads of experience, and truly believe that recording should be easy and fun !
Please give me a holler and tell me
about your band or project, or to ask any questions you might have about me, or
Egg, or recording in general.
Thanks

Egg is primarily an Analog recording facility.
We use
2" Quantegy GP9, 499, or 456 recording tape.
Quantegy, the worlds only major supplier of quality
analog tape recently went through bankruptcy.
The good
news is that Quantegy has survived and is shipping tape again.
(The bad
news is that the prices have gone up.)
But......
Egg does have tape!
For lower to medium budget projects, demos, etc., we
will be happy to rent you tape, and archive your tracks onto DVD once your use
of the tape is complete. (i.e.-mixed and approved for mastering) The tape we
rent is high quality, new or nearly new, and will not be worn out in any way.
We also can sell you slightly used reels at a reduced price. For higher budget
projects we can sell you new tape, please call and ask about availability and
price ahead of time. thanks.
Tape Rental.......$50 per reel (includes archiving)
Used tape for sale........price will vary but will be
between $75 and $150
New tape for sale.........the new prices are: GP9 - $250
plus tax , 499 - $230 plus tax, and 456 - $210 plus tax.
We also have blank CDR's, 1/4"
analog, DAT, and cassette tape in stock. You can save a couple of bucks, if you
want, by purchasing your own tape etc. at ProTape NW in Seattle. (206-441-8273).
Our analog recorder is an Otari MTR 90
MkIII- 2" 16 track recorder.
It is awesome!
(We also have two Tascam MSR-16,
1/2" 16 track recorders, one with dolby "S" noise reduction and
one with dbx.
We don't record on them anymore but they are here if needed
for playback of old tapes, etc.)
For your digital recording needs we have
the MOTU 2408 MK III / Mac G4 /
Digital Performer system.
(comparable to and compatable with Pro
Tools)
It will synch to the Analog tape decks,
making it easy to bring tracks in from other studios, send tracks out to other
studios, edit tracks, and phutz around, etc. (We also have 16 tracks of Tascam
DA-88 digital recording which will sync to the analog and/or MOTU if needed)
Mic pre-amps are Neve, Manley, Mackie, and the special sound of
our Spectrasonics Console (custom built for Stax Studios in Memphis around
1964). We have a variety of Microphones, of course, including the lovely and
talented Soundeluxe U-95 tube, Royer R-122 Ribbon, 414's, 421's, AT-4033,
Sanken CU-31's, RE-20, etc. Amongst our outboard gear we boast a Manley Electro
optical tube limiter/compressor, a Drawmer tube EQ, an Empirical Labs
Distressor, plus plenty of the usual squeezers and goop machines. We mix to a
1/4" Studer B67 (analog half track) and/or directly to the hard drive of our
Alesis MasterLink. Using the MasterLink makes it extremely easy and fast to
burn you a reference CD of your session if you like, and/or a 24 bit CD-rom
which can be used for mastering or as a master backup.
We monitor with Tannoy's legendary "Little Reds" (SRM
12B's), NS 10's, and EV S-40's. We are also proud to supply cable TV/VCR,
refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, playstation 1, mini ping pong table, and
toilet.
The Egg Studios day rate is $350 per
day. The hourly rate is $35 per hour.
These rates include Conrad Uno as
engineer/co-producer.
Our day rate is based on a maximum use of from 10am to 10pm, due
to our residential situation.
Weekends are booked at day rate only.
Weekdays can be booked by the day or by the hour.
We will probably ask for a deposit to hold any dates booked.
(If you don't show up, we use your deposit to buy Tequila)
Like all studios we do have a few
oddball rules.
For example, there is no smoking in the studio (only outside
in the driveway).
There are some minor parking restrictions, as a courtesy to
our neighbors.
Our day ends at 10pm.
Whiskey is OK.
